What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a fascinating healthcare system which has been developed, tested, researched and refined over centuries to give us a complex and detailed understanding of the body’s energetic balance.
The underlying principle of acupuncture is that the body’s main organs use energy (qi) and pathways called “meridians” to communicate. Sickness occurs in the body when the communication network simply breaks down.
To enjoy optimum health, your energy (qi) should travel naturally and unimpeded through all your meridian channels, flowing freely from the top of your head to your toes.
Acupuncture uses ultra-fine needles – no thicker than a human hair – to free up any blocked energy (qi) and get it flowing freely again. When it does, you will experience the most wonderful feeling of vitality. There is little or no pain and the treatment is extremely relaxing
What Can Acupuncture Help?
Because the goal of acupuncture is to promote and restore the balance of energy, the benefits of acupuncture can extend to a wide range of conditions from emotional problems (i.e. anxiety, depression, stress) to digestive disorders (i.e.IBS, nausea, bloating). Acupuncture also helps treating pain such as arthritis, back and shoulder problems and migraines. In 2016, national newspapers were full of headlines about studies which had been conducted on how acupuncture can successfully help with infertility and IVF.

“I saw Mandy in the run up to my IUI (at home) and I got pregnant first time. Even though I hadn’t had any tests for fertility I strongly believe that preparing my body through acupuncture enabled me to catch so quickly aged 30.” Sam Marshall, The Beauty Guru.
“I started acupuncture with Mandy to see if it would help my eczema. Although at first I was little apprehensive about the treatment, Mandy soon put me at ease. Not only have the sessions improved my eczema, I feel much calmer and less stressed. This has really helped at work and my life in general. I really look forward to my appointments with Mandy. After a chat to assess how I am feeling, she then chooses the right acupuncture points to leave me feeling fantastic. I couldn’t recommend Mandy and her treatments highly enough.” Deb, Chester.
“I went to Mandy for help with my fertility treatment. I had undergone 3 unsuccessful rounds of IVF and suffer from unexplained infertility. On seeing Mandy, I was reassured that I was in good hands, she explained to me that Five Elements acupuncture treats the whole self not just the symptoms, and immediately felt positive effects from the treatment. I had a series of treatments and Mandy and I worked together to get me some sort of cycle. I am now expecting my first baby and I am certain that Mandy’s holistic approach and encouragement was key to our treatment.” Vicki, Chester.
