Beauty Boosting Self Care

Self-care is a common term these days with hashtags appearing all over social media, and probably cropping up in all of our new year’s resolutions.

The simple act of looking after yourself, whether that be physically, emotionally or mentally is no longer seen as selfish, and more as something that refuels us and is key to living a balanced life. So, where do you start including self-care within your routine?

Self-care really does mean different things to different people, and it’s important that you recognise what works for you, but here are a few key rules to remember:

Keep it simple

Make it something that’s an active choice

Recognise when something is and isn’t working for you – you tried it, move on to the next.

We’ve pulled together our top beauty busting tips for adding a little self-care into your life.

Great, glowing skin makes you happy and confident. Creating a daily skincare regime can give you that extra bit of calm and happiness morning and night. Make sure you design this around your routine so it’s something you enjoy not endure.  Visit a skin professional who can really analyse your skin and give you the expert advice you need – remember your therapist knows way more about skin than the internet does!

Soak away your stresses. A simple soak in the tub can calm the mind and nerves and you can supercharge this by adding some ultra-soothing aromatics. Scents such as lavender, bergamot, pine and eucalyptus or lemon can boost your mood and productivity just by way of inhalation. Swap your usual Epsom salts to magnesium flakes to supercharge your levels and remineralise your body.

Find your zen with a relaxing massage. Just 30 minutes has been proven to help reduce stress, pain and muscle tension and can be combined with aromatherapy or targeted treatments to real boost the benefits. Talk to your massage therapist for tips on self-massage techniques so you can continue the self-care at home. If you are short of time why not opt for an express massage such as an Anti-tension targeted massage that can be added onto any regular treatment

Take time out from the hustle and bustle.  Being pampered with a simple manicure or pedicure not only gives you time to escape the daily grind, it boosts the health of your skin and nails too. In each recession nail services boomed due to their “lipstick factor” – the amount a new set of shiny nails can do to boost our mood should never be underestimated.

Get you brow game on. It’s no wonder brows are the most booked treatment in salons. Getting your brows done makes you feel amazing, you feel groomed, fresh and neat and yes even having hair removed can be relaxing!

Eat, sleep, drink water repeat – although the simplest forms of self-care, they have a huge impact on your health and wellbeing. Try to up your water intake, eat foods that fuel your body and get good quality sleep – these are the foundations for a happier and healthier life.
